Athlete of the Month - August 2018

Congratulations Karen Potter for earning Athlete of the Month during August 2018.

 

Karen put in a great summer working hard to improve her strength and skills.  She took advantage of all the different class times making sure to always find time for her health.  Karen capped off the summer with a great performance at Battle in BillTown.  Karen's positive demeanor and solid work ethic make her a pleasure to coach and work out alongside.  Congrats Karen on a Great month...and Summer!

 

A few words from Karen:

 

When did you become a member at WC? June 2017

 

What do you do when you're not at WC?  Spend time with my family, enjoy fine wine, golf, bike, and travel. 

 

When did you realize crossfit is right for you? 

It was pretty evident with in a few weeks this was the right mix for me. The level of variety in movements, challenge, supportive coaches who encourage you- it was a perfect mix.

 

What's your favorite WOD/movement? I enjoy squats of all types- air, back, front.

 

What's your least favorite WOD/movement? 1 arm-DB Overhead squats

 

What is one thing you have done at WC that you never thought u would do?  

Running. Thinking back to the first run (so bad) and now being able to do a mile or two in a WOD is a win and maybe one day I will even enjoying running : )

 

What motivates you during a WOD?

I am super motivated by growing older and staying healthy so I can travel and enjoy my family. I want to be traveling the globe, golfing, hiking and biking all the way to the end.  

 

What is something about yourself we may not know?

I have two children in college, married to my high school sweetheart, go to 24/2 Church  and have 3 cats. 

 

What advice would you give someone just getting started with crossfit?

You made the right choice. Fight the voice in your head telling you its too hard, your too old, out of shape or too busy. Its one hour of your day and a life time of benefits.
