Athlete of the Month - July 2018
August 5, 2018

Congratulation to Kurt Williams for earning Athlete of the Month for the month of July.
Kurt can be found in the 6am class working hard to perfect his form. Kurt has embraced our motto of checking your ego at the door and ensuring he is moving properly before adding on additional weight. He is steadily getting better at technical movements like jumping rope and kipping swings. Kurt has been impressed with his improved stamina and energy levels since beginning CrossFit several months ago. Kurt has also put in the work and has been able to improve his blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight.
Congratulations Kurt on putting in the work!
A few words from Kurt:
When did you become a member at WC? MAY 2018
What do you do when you're not at WC? I SPEND A FAIR BIT OF TIME AT MY JOB AS A VETERINARY PATHOLOGIST AT THE VETERINARY SCHOOL AT MSU. I’M ALSO DILIGENTLY ATTEMPTING TO LEARN GUITAR.
When did you realize crossfit is right for you? HONESTLY, I THINK IT WAS AFTER THE FIRST WORKOUT. I REALLY ENJOY THE PEOPLE AND THE VARIETY OF MOVEMENTS.
What's your favorite WOD/movement? PROBABLY SOMETHING ON THE RIG, LIKE ATTEMPTING MUSCLE UP PULLUPS
What's your least favorite WOD/movement? I DON’T DISLIKE ANY MOVEMENT, THOUGH BURPEES ARE SORT OF A DRAG
What is one thing you have done at WC that you never thought u would do? PRETTY MUCH EVERY WOD I’VE DONE
What motivates you during a WOD? THE COACHES AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS ARE GREAT MOTIVATION
What is something about yourself we may not know? I SPENT 2 MONTHS IN SOUTH AFRICA AND ZIMABABWE. WHILE IN ZIMBABWE I WORKED ON A PROJECT TO CAPTURE AND MOVE BLACK RHINOCEROS AWAY FROM AREAS WHERE POACHING WAS (IS A) PROBLEM
What advice would you give someone just getting started with crossfit? BE PATIENT WORKING ON YOUR TECHNIQUE AND DON’T HURRY TO ATTEMPT TOO MUCH WEIGHT
