Congratulations Laura Harkema for earning athlete of the month during December 2017.
Laura earned this recognition for her relentless pursuit of perfection. She comes to the box each day looking to get better. After several months of doing this I think she has surprised herself with what she is now able to do. Her strength and endurance has improved significantly during her time at Williamston CrossFit. Her positive attitude, laid back demeanor, and encouragement of others made her an easy choice for athlete of the month.

When did you become a member at WC? July, 2017
What do you do when you're not at WC? I teach special education at Haslett Middle School, drive my 3 kids around to their activities and watch sports of all kinds (March Madness is one of my favorite times of the year!)
When did you realize crossfit is right for you? I realized crossfit was right for me during the on ramp- I love the variety of movements and the combination cardio and weights. The coaches are also amazing at correcting my technique and scaling as necessary.
What's your favorite WOD/movement? Push press and partner WODs.
What's your least favorite WOD/movement? This will surprise no one: Burpees.
What is one thing you have done at WC that you never thought u would do? Just about every single WOD. Most of the time, I see that list and think it’s impossible to do!
What motivates you during a WOD? Everyone around me working so hard motivates me to keep moving, plus the encouragement from them and the coaches.
What is something about yourself we may not know? I love to play board/card games and I am an avid reader. I know- pretty exciting!
What advice would you give someone just getting started with crossfit? This is an amazing team of people who appreciate hard work, no matter where you are physically.
