Athlete of the Month - September 2017

Congratulations to Rebecca Selesky for earning Athlete of the Month at Williamston CrossFit for the month of September 2017.

 

Since beginning her CrossFit journey Rebecca has been dedicated to doing things the right way.  She is an inspiration to all athletes as she paid attention to details early on and it is paying off for her.  She continues to surprise herself with what her body is able to do.  With a young family Rebecca is dedicated to her health, finding time to get a workout in.  She brings the energy when she is in class and motivates the athletes around her.

A few words from Rebecca:

 

When did you become a member at WC?  April 2017

 

What do you do when you're not at WC? When I'm not a crossfit I enjoy spending time with my family.  I have two boys Benjamin 10 and Hayden 8, they keep us very busy.  My husband and I enjoying running together and taking the boys camping.  I also work at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at MSU.

 

When did you realize crossfit is right for you?    I have been a runner for many years and was at a point where my times we not getting better, my energy level was not there and I was struggling getting the last 10lbs off. Shortly after I started crossfit my energy levels were back, the weight started slowly coming off and I couldn't wait to get back to do the next WOD.

 

What's your favorite WOD/movement?  I enjoy any WOD that includes running, box jumps or front squats.

 

What's your least favorite WOD/movement? My least favorite movement is strict press or hand release push ups.

 

What is one thing you have done at WC that you never thought u would do? Snatches-first time we did them I was like how in the world am I every going to get this movement.  It's still not perfect, but it keeps improving.  Also, I can't believe the limits I'm able to push my body and the weight I am able to move.  I have really surprised myself.

 

What motivates you during a WOD? The encouragement and support from the athletes and coaches.   I also know I am a better mom, wife and more productive at work when I get time at the box.

 

What is something about yourself we may not know? Three years ago as a family we cut all processed food out of our lifestyle for almost a year.  I have always been passionate about food and healthy lifestyle and it's important to me that my boys understand and make healthy choices 80% of the time.  

 

What advice would you give someone just getting started with crossfit?  WC is a great place to set goals and accomplish things you never thought were possible.  The WC box has an incredible group of athletes and coaches that are supportive and will help push you to new limits.  Have FUN!
