Congratulations Leah Mourey for earning Athlete of the Month!

 

Leah has not been doing CrossFit for long but she has seen tremendous improvement. Leah is a regular at the 6am and Saturday morning. We always stress that form has to come first and the weight will follow, Leah has embraced this mentality and improved so much with her form I think she surprises herself now by how much she is lifting. Along with her form and strength, Leah's endurance has improved dramatically, recently completing the filthy Fifty with time spare after not getting through the burpees 3 months ago. Not only is she seeing all sorts of gains...Leah is a joy to workout along side, encouraging her peers throughout the WOD.

 

For these reasons, Leah truly exemplifies what we strive for at Williamston CrossFit and has earned this recognition.

A few words from Leah:

  • When did you become a member at WC?

    • November 2016

  • What do you do when you're not at WC?

    • Homeschool, drive my kids to and from activities, and read.

  • When did you realize crossfit is right for you?

    • The first day (after completing the on ramp)

  • What's your favorite WOD/movement and What's your least favorite WOD/movement?

    • I combined these two questions because I think that Burpbees and wall balls fall into both categories. For me, it's a love hate thing: I hate it while I'm doing them and love them when I'm done.

  • What is one thing you have done at WC that you never thought u would do?

    • Completing a WOD. To me, they scare me (in a good way) I never know how or if I will be able to make it through them and I surprise myself every time.

  • What motivates you during a WOD?

    • The clock! I am very motivated by getting my WOD done before the clock runs out.

  • What is something about yourself we may not know?

    • I am an artist- I use to paint portraits and buildings for people. I haven't painted in 9 years, because I don't make the time. I am working towards teaching art class to kids and I hope that will get me back to painting.

  • What advice would you give someone just getting started with crossfit?

    • I think the best advice I've heard is, listen to your body. Secondly, I'd say that crossfit can challenge you in ways you could never imagine; it can be the hardest thing you'll ever do, it will hurt like crazy, you'll barely be able to move some days, but all of that disappears because of the incredible feeling you get when you finish a WOD that you never thought you could do.

  • I'd also like to give a shout-out to the coaches and morning crew for being so welcoming, fun, encouraging, and pushing me to my limits. You rock!!!
